Frequently Asked Questions
What is Invisalign and how does it work?
Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gradually shift your teeth into the desired position. These aligners apply gentle pressure to move teeth over time, replacing traditional metal braces.
What makes Invisalign different from traditional braces?
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible, removable, and generally more comfortable. They allow for easier cleaning of your teeth and don't require adjustments with wires or brackets.
Is Invisalign treatment painful?
Invisalign treatment involves gentle, gradual movements of your teeth and is generally not painful. Some patients may experience temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of treatment as they adjust to their new aligners.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the individual's case. On average, it can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months, but Dr. Dayanayeva will provide you with a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
Can anyone get Invisalign treatment?
Invisalign is suitable for most teens and adults who want to straighten their teeth. However, it may not be the best option for certain complex dental issues. A consultation with Dr. Dayanayeva can determine if Invisalign is right for you.
How often do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?
Aligners are worn 24 hrs a day, all day, all night, eating, sleeping. Only to be removed to clean your teeth or trays.
How do I care for my Invisalign aligners?
Clean your aligners daily using a soft-bristled toothbrush and lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it can warp the plastic. Invisalign also offers a cleaning system for optimal care.
Will Invisalign affect my speech?
Some people may experience a temporary adjustment period where their speech is slightly affected. However, this usually resolves quickly as you become accustomed to wearing the aligners.
Can I eat and drink while wearing Invisalign aligners?
Absolutely, you must eat and drink with the aligners on.
How often will I need to visit The Dental Suite during treatment?
Regular check-ups every 4-6 weeks are typical with Invisalign treatment. These visits allow Dr. Dayanayeva to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments.
What happens after my Invisalign treatment is completed?
After completing Invisalign treatment, most patients will need to wear a retainer to maintain their new smile. Dr. Dayanayeva will provide specific recommendations based on your individual needs.
